Tell your participants that you respect both them and their time.

How often have you had a public event become an embarassment because many of your participants wander on in on "Pagan Standard Time"? All the respectful folks feel foolish for having bothered to show up ready and set when they were asked to, and those inside and outside the group get turned off by the disorganization and feel the contempt. If only there was some way to make it clear, ahead of time, that events like this are run on a schedule that needs to be adhered to.

On the other hand, how often have you planned a laid-back, nothing-scheduled gathering only to have someone attend with an expectation that things were to occur with timing and precision? They get upset or anxious, and the relaxed mood is ruined. If only there was some way to make it clear, ahead of time, that no one coming to an event like this is expected to adhere to a schedule.

Now there is.

If you are running an event of the first kind, where Pagan Standard Time is an unwelcome guest, you can place the NoPST Emblem on your event's website and flyers, letting people know that if they can respect others by adhering to the event's schedule, they won't be asked to wait for those who can't. Also, if you let NoPST.org know about your event, we will happily list it as a part of the NoPST movement.

If, on the other hand, you are running a relaxed get-together, and want to foster an air of calm, open acceptance for everyone's ability to come and go as they please for the duration of the event, you can use the OkPST Emblem on your website, flyers or other promotional items to let everyone know to chill out and let it be. And again, tell NoPST.org about your happening, and we will list it as an OkPST event for all to see.

The NoPST/OkPST Pledge:

In using either the NoPST Emblem or the OkPST Emblem, or in referring to an event as being "No PST" or "Ok PST", you are agreeing to uphold the folowing pledge:

"By using the auspices of the NoPST concept for my event, I pledge that my event's elements that have a schedule will be run according to that schedule. This means that, at the minimum, things will begin when they have been publicized to in advance of the event, and that participants who show up late will at least have missed whatever portion they were not on time for, and at worst may be excuded from the event entirely, depending on the nature of the event. I futher pledge that this NoPST event will not use the OkPST Emblem or cause anyone trouble for ahering to the event's schedule.

"By using the auspices of the OkPST concept, I pledge that my event has no important schedule aside from not being expected to begin before its start time, and possibly a ending at a set end time. I will not hassle or exclude anyone from my event due to timeliness or schudling factors, and will possibly help catch up latecomers on anything interesting that happened before their arrival. I further pledge that this OkPST event will not use the NoPST Emblem or suddenly include an event element that demnads an exact start time.

"In exchange for this pledge, I obtain full use of either the NoPST or OkPST Emblem, as limited by the above, for my use in promoting my event in print or online, and I can say that it is a part of the NoPST movement (or OkPST movement as appropriate), and I have the option to tell NoPST.org about my event so they may help promote it on NoPST.org."
